By the way, you’ve come a long way from your Rush Limbaugh days.

Just for the record, I love this quote. Thank you for making me laugh out loud, literally.

Sarah,

You write:

Social programs are a necessary evil. Yes, I agree, the average American does pay too much in taxes and sees little of their taxpayer dollars at work, but I believe this can be fixed. I believe that social programs have helped this country far more than damaged it. Yes, in the past fifty to a hundred years our government has become a bloated, corrupt bureaucracy

I think the difference lies in the fact that you see those social programs as necessary because of the "evil" of man. I see those social progams as necessary because of what government itself has done to people. Government has taken self sufficiency out of the equation. Social programs are not there because of mankind or a lack of government. Social programs are there because of government control.

Perhaps this is the pessimist in me, but I really feel that most people are incapable of having good will towards man (man is naturally evil) and it is necessary for the government to help those individuals who do not have much.

Yes, we do need more than two party system and yes, our big government has failed America, but should we just go in the complete opposite direction and not have social programs... No!

Yes, in the past fifty to a hundred years our government has become a bloated, corrupt bureaucracy, but I don't believe that Libertarians have the solution.

For me, it is far simpler to complain that actually create a solution to the problem, since my solution would be to create a benevolent dictatorship.

Perhaps I am too unlearned on this topic, forgive my ignorance.

For too many exquisite living years have elected profiteers, under the guise of “We the people..,” beguiled the populace. Through the engineering of new birthrights, corrupt kings, callous queens, and hungry thieves with thankful whiskey breath, have enshrined a democracy that never was! A wretched sanctification carried out by way of the relocation of peoples, starving cultures, and spreading shores.

A nice article. I came to it from the Australian Libertarian Society blog. I particularly like the emphasis on the Ninth and Tenth amendments. I recently downloaded the US constitution onto my iPhone because it is a fascinating document. I think I will write a post on it at my moderate libertarian blog http://jarrahjob.net

This is our emergency century!
We welcome the days of carrion, of black crows picking at an unethical president's skull!
Listen to revolt shocked litany!
Stop accepting the lousy gifts and gratuities from ideal kings and queens!
Holy vagrants, we now shroud the kingdom in burning eulogy!
Sing all your velvet songs rueful minstrels!
Decay palimpsest folks! Your time has passed!
No longer!
No longer will we submit to horrible insects!
Nor Informal guerilla purists!
Wreck this fashion-worship-money-regime vogue!
We are a roseate fresco whispering the sacraments!
We are not asking for alchemy or astrology!
We are relinquishing the sorcery!
We are disavowing your vast colonnades of corruption and capital!
We are disavowing the lotus buds!
We are seeking to trample any adherence to government!
Let us punish macabre industry!
Let us excommunicate the smokestacks!
Let the obscured people ask for the mosaic trees!
Let the reluctant jesters return to the palace courts!
Let the mystical peasants revolt!
