Let’s Present Our Own Plan
If you follow Republican politics, you’ve undoubtedly heard of Jonathon Krohn, the 13 year old who brought down the house at CPAC and has written a book called “Define Conservatism.”
While it remains to be seen what will happen with Jonathon, one fact is certain: we need to get back to his definition of conservatism. In his book, he defines conservatism as “Respect for the Constitution, respect for life, less government and personal responsibility.” If the Republican Party still stood for Jonathon’s thesis, we wouldn’t be in the trouble we are right now.
But the bad ideas continue. Big government economic liberal Bill Kristol recently wrote:
“Conservatives can’t win politically right now. But they can raise doubts, they can point out other issues that we can’t ignore (especially in national security and foreign policy), they can pick other fights — and they can try in any way possible to break Obama’s momentum. … (T)hey (Republicans) can find reasons to obstruct and delay. They should do their best not to permit Obama to rush his agenda through this year. They can’t allow Obama to make of 2009 what Franklin Roosevelt made of 1933 or Johnson of 1965. Slow down the policy train.”
The biggest problem right now is that too many Republicans look like a deer in headlights when someone asks “So, we know you oppose Obama…but what is the Republican’s plan?” Kristol, himself an offspring of Trotsktyist socialism and a force behind big government principles in the Republican Party, wants to continue the lack of a plan by Republicans. The best way to stop the policy train of Mr. Obama is for the Republican Party to present free market plans for the future to the American people.
Let me be clear: if Republicans are going to be an effective opposition party to the Democrat-controlled Congress, Senate and Whie House, we need to present our own plans for the future rather than relying on being nothing but obstructionists.
One of the best Republicans in Washington, Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan, has been a guiding force for the Republicans to have their own plan. Congressman Ryan has been all over the media putting forth common sense proposals.
The most pathetic aspect is that 13 year old Jonathon Krohn has more integrity and credibility than Mr. Kristol seems to.
